- Speak with study staff on the phone to answer questions and schedule your first visit
- Receive either the one-time, investigational gene therapy treatment or a placebo
- Attend approximately 13 visits at your local study site over the course of about a year
Frequently Asked Questions
For the first part of the study, you’ll have a 2/3 chance of getting the investigational treatment. 1/3 of participants will get a placebo, or inactive treatment. However, at the end of the study, if you had the placebo, you would have the option to choose to get the investigational treatment, if you still qualify.
The investigational treatment is a gene therapy treatment that is inserted into a gland in your mouth. You shouldn’t feel more than minor temporary pain. It’s a one-time procedure done at your local study site. It’s designed to help improve your dry mouth symptoms.
Yes, you’ll need to complete a short questionnaire on your health and symptoms for about 7 days each month. The questionnaire can be done easily through your smartphone.
If you need to travel more than 50 miles to a site, we will arrange to cover your travel expenses, potentially including flights and overnight stays.
